Telehealth is having a consultation with your doctor by headphones or video call.
It is not intended to replace essential visits to your GP, but rather a convenient solution when you cannot see a doctor face-to-face.
Phone/video consultations with your doctor are available by appointment, as long as you have had a face-to-face appointment at the practice within the previous 12 months.
Several medical issues can be discussed and sorted over the phone/video without requiring face-to-face consultation. Your doctor can arrange for electronic prescriptions to be sent to your pharmacy or to your phone or email and fax referrals for pathology and radiology requests to be forwarded to their providers.
Ongoing referrals to specialists can also be arranged via Tele health.
Many issues cannot be solved over the phone in which case your doctor will arrange for you to have a face-to-face appointment. You can book a telly health appointment online through AMS app or by calling reception.
